This fascinating museum houses separate folk and police collections. The folk collection traces Winchcombe’s history from Neolithic times, with exhibits from Belas Knap, Roman Winchcombe, the town’s lost Benedictine abbey and the English Civil War as well as 19th century agricultural equipment. The police collection comprises a small part of the Simms Collection, which was founded in 1953 by local resident, Ross Simms. Exhibits include international uniforms, caps, helmets, badges, truncheons and handcuffs. Highlights include a rare 1835 Peeler uniform and one from the Canadian Mounted Police.
