Foxton Canal Museum was opened in 1989 and is situated in the old boiler house on the banks of the canal. The purpose of the museum is to tell the story of this canal, and in particular the lift which was designed to take boats from one level to the other. An extraordinary piece of engineering, the lift and canal continue to attract visitors to this day.
