The oldest and most famous building in Chipping Campden, Grevel House, was built in 1380 for William Grevel, a wealthy wool merchant. It is little changed and its main attraction is still an exquisite tall Medieval Gothic bay window. Two storeys high, the window is traceried, and topped with gargoyles. Also of interest I a packhorse entrance, a sundial, another doorway of 1400 and a 16th-century bay window with stained glass. Grevel House is also reportedly one of the first in England to have a chimney instead of a roof hole.
