John Moore was a writer and environmentalist ahead of his time. This museum celebrates his life and work and the countryside and wildlife that he loved. A natural history collection includes preserved mammals and birds, and other displays show early farming tools. Part of the Alan R Jack collection of scrap-metal wildlife sculptures is also here. The Museum building is one of a row of 15th-century purpose-built shops. The shops had shutters that opened onto the street to form counters.
