Chipping means market and Chipping Campden's Market Hall is one of the best in England. Jacobean, gabled, with 14 stone arches, a cobblestone floor, and a timber-framed roof, it is built from mellow tawny-coloured Cotswold stone. Sir Baptist Hicks built the hall in 1627 to provide shelter for traders of cheese, butter and poultry. In 1942, the National Trust bought it. In 1955, they re-roofed it. The Hall is open all year.
