After German bombers, in World War Two, blew up the building that was on the Mitchell Memorial site, the public decided to build a memorial to Reginald Mitchell, inventor of the Spitfire, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent. Although the Mitchell Memorial Theatre only does amateur performances, they have a high standard and as it only has a seating capacity of 380 people, an intimate performance is always given. The performances are given by a mainly youth theatre, and ranging in diversity: from dance musicals, concerts and plays, all at affordable process.
