Situated within the historic New Walk area of the city, this museum and gallery is one of the proudest cultural reference points for the people of Leicester. In 1849, the Literary and Philosophical Society formally presented the city with its collections, which over a period of several hundred years have grown and been added to. The museum today houses a fascinating wide-ranging collection that has inspired generations.
