Just half a mile from Newcastle town centre, the Newcastle Borough Museum and Art Gallery is situated in eight acres of parkland, and an adventure playground. Inside the museum you will find many artefacts, ranging from those from the 1200s to the modern day. As you can see from the photo, there is a magnificent cannon dating from the Crimean war, weighing in at 2.8 tonnes and firing a 36lb shot. Also in the museum there is a mock-up street from the 19th Century, a comprehensive armoury of small arms from the World Wars and before, pottery artefacts and many old and modern children’s toys. Outside, there is an aviary and aquatic pond that will entertain all ages.
