Exceptionally fine Norman Great Hall of a late 12th Century fortified manor house. Medeival musician sculptures and fine architecture make it one of the most important monuments of Norman England. The hall has been a court for more than 800 years. Over 200 presentation horseshoes, forfeited by peers and royalty to the lord of the manor, hang inside. Set in pleasant grounds, the Great Hall is popular as a venue for civil marriages.
