In 1829, a chapel attached to the west wing of the old Hartpury Court was constructed for Dominican Nuns. Lord of the Manor, Robert Canning, erected the chapel shell with the nuns responsible for the internal furnishings. Behind the altar was a painting of Christ in Ascension but by 1860 this had been partly covered by a reredos. By the turn of the century, the chapel was dilapidated and although heavily restored during the 1930s, became derelict once more. Now reopened and in the hands of Hartpury Historic Buildings Trust.
