Queen’s Theatre, built in 1911 by Russell and Cooper of London, is Stoke’s oldest surviving theatre. In the past, many famous people such as Ken Dodd, Jonathan Wilkes and Robbie Williams, who was born in the Red Lion pub just half a minute walk away! In 1998, it was closed due to health and safety reasons and because restoration work was neglected, the ceiling collapsed in 1999. It was reopened in 2003 as a concert and theatre hall and can house an audience of 1000.
