Sir Thomas Tresham, who was the father of one of the Gunpowder Plotters, was the designer of this fantastic and unusual place. The Triangular Lodge was constructed between 1593 and 1597, as a lasting memory of Tresham’s love of the Roman Catholic religion. The beautiful building is open to the public and contains a few interesting antique pieces of furniture, including a matching triangular table.
