Dating back 1000 years and romantically set among trees beneath the Cotswold escarpment, this church is dedicated to the child, Saint Eadburgha, daughter of King Alfred. Largely Norman, it was probably built on the site of an earlier wooden church. Later additions include 14th-century arches. Also of interest is a wall tablet to Thomas Philips, one of greatest ever book collectors. Today the church is only used in summer months, and for this reason, its Elizabethan pulpit has been removed to St Michael's Church nearby.
