Sandford Park is one of Cheltenham's hidden jewels. Stretching from the end of the High Street to the River Chelt and beyond, it has ornamental borders, Italian gardens, pools, cascades, a fountain, a children's play area and contemporary sculptures. This one, by James Gould, is called The Weathered Man. Landscape architect, Milner White, designed the park, which was bought by the council in 1927. In 2002, regeneration of the park began after years of decline. Since then, the park’s water feature has been restored and spring and autumn borders have been planted.
