Richard de Brito, one of the four knights who murdered Thomas a Becket took sanctuary in Dorstone and later founded a chapel on the site to expiate his part in the murder. The church was largely rebuilt in 1889 but retains some of its old treasures. A tiny 13th Century pewter coffin chalice was found during reconstruction work when a tomb, thought to be that of John de Brito, was accidentally broken into. The church has some medieval windows and a 13th Century piscina enclosed in a beautiful recess.
