The church of St Mary the Virgin dates from between 1320 and 1360. The altar rails and heptagonal pulpit are Jacobean and, along with the lectern has some remarkable carved panels of mythical figures. The prettily shaped font is 13th Century and a candelabra, hanging above the crossing is dated 1722. Outside is probably the finest of Herefordshire’s seven detached belfries, a three-storey pagoda-like structure of timber and stone supported inside by eight massive oak pillars. The bullet holes in the door are said to be from the Civil War.
