This striking medieval church, built of local stone, has a 12th Century nave and a later medieval chancel. The present timber framed tower dates from medieval times. It is famous for its romanesque sculptures and gargoyles. For instance, on the west face of the church, the keystone bears a small sculpture of an acrobat doing a handstand.Inside the church above the doorway is a staring gargoyle with a forked beard.It is found in the small picturesque village of Pirton, which is six miles south of Worcester.
