This is a fine medieval church set in a beautiful old village, on land owned by Queen Godiva, according to the Domesday Book. It was named for St. Wilfrid (c. 634 - April 24, 709) Archbishop of York and Bishop of Lindisfarne. Many exceptional medieval stone carvings can be seen on the church’s exterior. The west tower dates from the Fourteenth century. It holds a peal of 6 bells hung in 1882, and an interior clock of 1813. The church also contains a rare medieval altar, a rectangular slab made of stone, set upon a raised step.
