Elizabeth I gave Stowe Pool to the city of Lichfield in 1598. In modern days anglers can be seen around this huge pool and visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk along its length towards small parish church of St. Chad’s. The St. Chad’s Road end offers a beautiful vista across the water with the Cathedral spires and historic city as its backdrop. Next to Stowe Pool is Stowe Fields, which has a children’s play area and in summer plays host to a local rock festival and other events.
