Tenbury Wells had the word Wells added to its name in the 19th Century in an attempt to promote the natural mineral water that is collected from the town. In 1862, twenty-two years after the first discovery of the water source, this pumping room was built in order to collect the water quickly. The design is described as Chinese Gothic, which is an unusual description, but quite accurate when you see the ornate attention to detail here.
