At The Commandery in Worcester, visitors can explore six layers of the building’s past through an audio tour which brings to life the stories behind its history. The medieval building is divided into a ‘rich’ side and a ‘poor’ side and was a Royalist headquarters during the Civil War. Don’t miss the carved wooden ceiling bosses in the Great Hall, the medieval wall paintings upstairs or the pew ends in the shape of lions. There are also plenty of hands-on activities for children (and adults) to try.
