Stroud's former Temperance Hall is now home to The Space, a community arts centre. Art exhibitions, drama, dance, poetry and music can all now be seen in this solid Victorian Tudor Gothic building. Built in 1879 by Chapman, it has a large hall upstairs, which seats up to 150, and a smaller room downstairs, which seats 60. Performers here have included the Oxford Touring Company and Ophaboom, who performed Faustus. A Drama Festival for schools also takes place here. The Space is run by the Reclaim Arts Project, a registered charity.
