Chipping Campden's town sign was finally erected in 2001, some 80 years after it was first designed. Taken from a watercolour by Wentworth Huyshe and his son, who was a silversmith, it shows the coats of arms of two renowned Chipping Campden families, the Gloucesters and the Gainsboroughs. Wentworth Huyshe, who lived in the town for 30 years, was also a war correspondent for the Times and the New York Herald and a well-known local figure.
