The museum opened to the public in 1980 and has grown significantly since that time, now home to three halls that in total accommodate more than a hundred historic buses, coaches, fire engines and electric vehicles from across the region. The ‘Midland Red’ bus collection is of note because of the rich and unique history of design in that company. The museum claims to have the largest battery-electric vehicles in the world.
