There have been people living at Guiting Power since at least Saxon times. Today, Guiting Power is a popular conservation village. At its centre is one of the prettiest village greens in the Cotswolds. The well-kept grassy slope, with its war memorial and wooden bench, is bordered by honey-stoned cottages. In summer, the spot is a favourite resting place for ramblers on their way through the Windrush Valley. Canon Bazeley of Matson designed the Market Cross in 1920.
