Wollaton Hall is set in over 500 acres of historic deer park and is one of the most impressive Tudor buildings in this region of the country. Designed by eminent architect of his time Robert Smythson and completed in 1588, the beautiful building now houses Nottingham’s Natural History Museum, Industrial Museum and the Steam Engine House. The collections are wide ranging and designed to appeal to all ages.

This is one of those places that keeps delivering the goods to people like me. It had me interested with the Elizabethan mansion house and its 500 acre gardens cum parkland populated with red deer but then throw in a Natural History Museum on top and you see what I mean. The place has something for everyone in the family and it’s also free to enter, although if you want a guide to show you round then there is a charge, likewise in the car park too. - Karen Moore
