A trip to this family run, craft smokehouse in the far north west Highlands is guaranteed to get your taste buds jumping for joy. Achiltibuie is a remote coastal settlement between Ullapool and Lochinver and just getting there is memorable with a vista of the Assynt mountains. Viewing windows around the smokehouse allows visitors to see fresh salmon, kippers, haddock and freshwater fish, being smoked. Pick up the smoking shavings in the shop – they smell fantastic as they’re from whisky casks from the cooperage at Craigellachie.
