Auchindrain is an open air museum consisting of the substantially restored old township of that name along with related domestic and working life collections. There is also a visitor centre containing an introductory exhibition on past west highland life as well as a gift shop and other visitor facilities. The township is presented as it would have been in late Victorian times with the houses, cottages and agricultural buildings furnished and equipped to offer visitors the opportunity to step back in time and view the lives of the west highlander in that past age.
