Argyll’s highest mountain, Ben Cruachan (1126m), stands at the head of Loch Awe and is a dominant landmark for miles around. It is a huge massif which include two Munros (mountains higher than 914m), the sharply pointed Ben Cruachan and Stob Diamh, linked by a high ridge. A trip to the top is for experienced hillwalkers only though the initial walk to the Cruachan Reservoir (which feeds a large underground hydro-electric scheme) can be enjoyed by all.
