Scotland’s most northerly Munro stands sentinel over the remote coastline. This fine mountain looms large from which ever angle you approach it. It’s name is Norse, meaning ‘hill of the bay’ and it must have been a major landmark for the Vikings. The most popular approach is 2km to the north of Alltnacaillich Farm in Strathmore, after Dun Dornaigil broch. However this outing is for experienced hillwalkers only. As the picture shows this 927-metre mountain is often shrouded in mist and weather conditions change swiftly.
