This handsome tower house and hall was once the home of John Carswell, the first Protestant Bishop of the isles, and the translator of the first printed books into Gaelic. The property is well preserved and managed by Historic Scotland. The castle offers fine views of this charming area of northern Scotland and has a great many nice walks to be enjoyed in the grounds.
