This impressive four-storey tower house is set on its own small island in the middle of Loch Laich, overlooked by Portnacroish. Designed only to be reached by boat, it was built for the Stewarts of Appin in the mid 15th Century. King James IV of Scotland was a cousin of the Stewarts and regularly visited for hunting and hawking trips. Castle Stalker is privately owned and is open to the public by appointment only. There are spectacular panoramic views of the castle from Castle Stalker View cafe nearby.
