This memorial to the celebrated 18th century Gaelic poet, Duncan Bán MacIntryre, stands on a hill overlooking Loch Awe. MacIntyre hailed from Glenorchy and had an intimate love of his native language, tongue and customs. He was imprisoned for penning a poem which rallied against the Act of Proscription of the Highland dress. This hill, which can be climbed in five minutes from the road, offers a marvellous vantage point over the loch.
