Dedicated to the memory of Donald Murchison, a colonel in the Highland army of 1715, who successfully defended the lands of Kintail and Lochalsh from 1715 to 1722 for his chief William, the exiled Earl of Seaforth. A five-minute walk from the small car park 3km west of Kyle of Lochlash on the A87 (marked on OS maps) leads to the memorial perched above Loch Alsh. It’s the perfect place to take photographs of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge which spans the narrows, known as ‘kyles’ from the Gaelic.
