The far northern reaches of the National Cycle Network Route 1 is a must for any touring enthusiast. The route, from Inverness to John o’Groats, passes through some of the wildest land in the UK. Pictured here is one such remote section of the route by Lairg in central Sutherland. Along the way you’ll pass Munros, and see plenty of deer, before reaching the northern coast of Scotland. Here the route passes Scotland’s most northerly point, Dunnet Head, with views across to the Orkney Islands.
