Set on the banks of the River Lochy, Old Inverlochy Castle is so named to avoid confusion with the Victorian Inverlochy Castle Hotel. Although ruined, the castle is surprisingly complete with thirty foot high curtain walls. Built in the 13th century by the Comyns of Badenoch, Inverlochy later passed to Robert the Bruce and was the location for two major battles. The castle is set in a small area of parkland and makes a pleasant spot for picnics by the river.
