The Prince’s Cairn, above Loch nan Uamh, is on the Road to the Isles. It marks the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie finally left Scotland to sail for France on 20 September 1746. The Young Pretender had been on the run from government forces since the Battle of Culloden and had successfully evaded capture for five months. He was helped by many supporters across the Highlands and Western Isles. Despite the massive sum of £30,000 on his head, he was never betrayed. Parking is available close to the cairn.
