Step back in time at the Ullapool Museum & Visitor Centre. It’s a treasure trove of genealogical, historical and photographic material. Many visitors come to trace their ancestors; the first ship to carry emigrants direct from Scotland to Nova Scotia left from Ullapool’s Lochbroom in 1773. There is also an AV presentation which tells the story of the first settlers, who came after the ice age, to the present day. Kids will love the schoolroom, where they can check out old writing slates, the dreaded strap and listen to recordings. ‘Brass’ rubbings and quizzes are available too.
