The West Highland Museum is an independent and self-financing organisation, situated at the heart of the main square in Fort William. The museum is most famous for its Jacobite collections, as well as an extensive series of artefacts from social and local history. The Alexander Carmichael Collection, the Golden Coin Collcetion and the library are amongst other highlights.
