The sandstone walls of Peel Castle enclose the 13th century St. German’s Cathedral and the Round Tower. The castle is situated on St. Patrick’s Isle, one of the smallest islands in the Irish Sea, at the mouth of the River Neb. The island has an extraordinary history stretching back some eight thousand years. During that time, the site has been the home of princesses and bishops, monks and Vikings, peasants and fisherman.
