The grandest of all London monuments, this enormous homage to Prince Albert stands proudly opposite the Royal Albert Hall. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott under the close supervision of Queen Victoria, this statue cost in the region of £120,000 and took nearly twenty years to complete. Dripping with gold, the monument gleams in the sunshine attracting the eye from every corner of Kensington. Queen Victoria formally opened the monument in 1876.
