Originally known as the New Theatre, it is part of a ‘pair’ of W.G.R. Sprague designed theatres, the other being the Wyndham’s Theatre. Built in 1903, the theatre was renamed the Albery in 1973 after the venue’s long serving manager, the late Sir Bronson Albery. The 872 seat theatre has a Free Classical exterior, with the inside being in the Louis XVI style. Famous productions include the Scarlet Pimpernel, the long running musical Oliver! and more recently Turgenev’s A Month in the Country.
