Considered by many to be the most influential figure in the history of Colombian politics, Pumarejo like many South Americans at the time spent a good deal of time in London, working and studying throughout his life. After graduating from the London School of Economics he moved back to Colombia, entering political life and serving twice as President of his country before and after the Second World War.
