Andrew Bonar Law has been rather cruelly nicknamed ‘the unknown Prime Minister’ due to his meagre 209 days as premier of the country. A much liked leader, he was Prime Minister just before the outbreak of World War One and handed over power to Lloyd George when conflict began as part of a war coalition. He is famous for the quote “If I am a great man, many of the great men of history are frauds”. He lived in this house most of his life.
