The Apollo Theatre is the first theatre of the Edwardian age, being opened just a month after the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. The building was designed by Lewin Sharp, and was renovated in 1932. It is noteworthy for having the steepest balcony of any theatre in London. The theatre was predominantly used for comedy productions in the early days, with productions such as Camoletti’s Boeing Boeing having a three-year run in the sixties. The theatre also had success with another Camolleti comedy, Don’t Dress For Dinner, in the 1990s.
