The Avenue of 1988 is a beautiful avenue of trees planted in 1988 to replace some of the damage done by the great hurricane that ripped across England in October 1987. The vent caused large scal damage to many of the ancient and historic trees across Hampstead Heath and therefore the local people along with several local societies decided to plat this new avenue of trees in commemoration of the event.
