The Barbican Library is the largest public lending library in the City of London. Like most of the Corporation of London’s facilities it is extremely impressive and well-run. As well as an excellent general lending library, with a first-class children’s section, the Library is particularly notable for its highly impressive music section, which features scores, recordings and thousands of books. There is a huge sound recording archive which is accessible to the general public on site thanks to a bank of listening booths. Membership is open to all residents and workers in the City of London, and most others on the provision of a few simple documents.
