Latest Bermondsey Reviews
|
| |
 |
Bermondsey is home to one of the world's most infamous football clubs, Millwall Football Club, whose fate has been sealed to the lower echelons for most of its career since inception in 1885 having been in the top flight for only a few seasons.
Millwall FC moved from their East London premises, Millwall to South of the River and Coldblow Lane in 1910, the New Den (The Den) on Zampa Road off the Ilderton Road, which opened in 1993 heralded an era of what the locals would term; lego set and characterless all seater stadia.
However with such staunch passionate support Millwall Football Club in Bermondsey has lost none of its character with fans still as notorious as the generations that worshipped the club before them. Though efforts have been made to clear the hooliganism from the terraces, the passionate fans can be heard from miles around when playing at home.
If you're in London of a weekend and wish to partake in a frenzy of admirable vocal support then you cannot fail to take in a match at the closest football club to the centre of London, Millwall FC in Bermondsey.

Bermondsey in Southwark, South London is historically a working class area that up until the turn of the century was dotted with infamous housing estates but is now an area of regeneration well under way.
The area of Bermondsey encompasses a large swathe of South London from below London Bridge, bordering the Thames River and the Rotherhithe Tunnel stretching to the borders of New Cross and falls under the more upmarket SE1 postcode, as well as SE16.
Such is the development of Bermondsey the upper class creep has been fast to move into the Bermondsey borders creating an uplift to the housing market and ensuring development plans continue.
