Blackheath Halls are thought to be the earliest surviving purpose-built concert venue in London. Constructed with funds from public subscription in 1895, they have hosted performances by, among others, Edward Elgar, Clara Butt, Percy Grainger and Fritz Kreizler. Today, the Halls are owned and managed by the Trinity College of Music, and its varied programme of events includes rock, pop, jazz, classical, world music, theatre, cinema and dance. Recent performers have included Jamie Callum, Sir Simon Rattle and Paco Peña.
