Now one of London’s premier music venues, this building was constructed in 1929 as the largest of the Capital’s four ‘Astoria’ theatres. Its unique style creates a feeling of watching a show outside whilst being protected from the elements. For decades it hosted cinema and variety performances, but was closed and reopened several times in the seventies and eighties due to lack of finance. In 1995 the venue was bought by the Mackenzie group and given a £500,000 overhaul. The 5000 capacity theatre is now one of the most iconic rock venues in the world.
